‘Cleaning House and How to Fire Someone with Compassion and Integrity — getting rid of the virus, part of building an effective team.

Do you want to be part of a great work team?

Do you want to work in a positive, healthy and fun environment?

Is someone on your team creating angst among co-workers, customers or suppliers?

The energy of your team, the energy of your mastermind determines the success of it and also, to a great degree, its team members.

If you’re a leader, it’s your responsibility to manage your team and drive it to success.

Just like people, teams at work get virus’s. They need to be healed or removed.

How do you heal? You train the person to remove the deficiency in him or herself.

 And if that doesn’t work,

Sometimes we have to clean house.  How to you fire someone with integrity and compassion?

I’m going to give you a simple firing system that allows for being compassionate, yet stern and retains your integrity in the firing process.

This 9 step method should comply with the labor law in your province or state. Check to make sure. It does follow Alberta labor law.

It’s important our team energy is positive and progressive, honoring process, inspiring a sense of success and appreciation. Do you agree?

When a virus appears…(in the form of bad behavior or constant mistakes) it needs to healed or removed.

Step one. Acknowledge it. Identify it and define it clearly and distinctly. Invoke patience.

Step 2. Decide what needs to happen to change the behavior in the person.

Step 3. Have a verbal conversation with the person and provide a remedy plan. Use a shit sandwich for feedback. Maybe have a witness in the room. Offer training if necessary.

 Step 4. Provide the training.

Step 5. Look for opportunities to provide positive affirmation to the employee at least 3 to five times in the next while. Use a team if necessary for this part of the process.

Step 6. If the bad behavior or mistakes continue, Have a second conversation, give the person a warning that if it happens a 3rd time, they will be fired and record it in writing. Give a copy of the recorded notes to the employee and both sign it. Maybe have a witness in the room.

Step 7. Provide more positive affirmation.

Step 8. Prepare a letter of recommendation. Note the positive attributes of the individual.

Step 9.  Have the termination conversation. Have a witness in the room.
